Carissa Buchholz, a junior Cal Poly, rallied to earn eighth in the women's 6-kilometer race in 21:02.9 at the Big West Conference Cross Country Championships at Blacklake Golf Resort in Nipomo, Calif. Buchholz helped the Mustangs overcome a projected 12-point deficit entering the final kilometer to prevail by a 39-58 margin against UC Davis and secure back-to-back team titles. Cal Poly captured its ninth women's team crown in the past 25 championship meets.
